About Fear

ELEMENTAL

The Elemental Tree make use of natural elements like water, poison, wind and fire. Yōkai with an elemental-based Fear are strongest when fighting in their particular element. There are seven elements that each Yōkai can fall into.

Water: Yōkai who specialize in water-based Fear are often water-dwellers themselves. They can breath underwater for long periods of time and may even be able to manipulate it. A water-based Yōkai is strongest when they are in water or around it. If no water is present than the Yōkai is fairly useless.

Fire: Yōkai who specialize in fire-based Fear are immune to high temperatures and can possibly even generate fire from their body. They are sometimes able to manipulate fire as well. A fire-based Yōkai can be easily defeated by a water-based one or a Yōkai with stronger flames.

Earth: Yōkai who specialize in earth-based Fear live underground or in a heavily wooded area. They can sometimes manipulate plants or earth. A earth-based Yōkai can be easily defeated by a fire-based Yōkai or when there is no earth around them.

Air: Yōkai who specialize in air-based Fear live in the sky or enjoy living in high places. They may be able to manipulate the air around them or even fly. A air-based Yōkai can be easily defeated by other Yōkai with powerful Fear or winds powerful than their own.

Ice: Yōkai who specialize in ice-based Fear enjoy the cold and are tolerant of it. They can sometimes manipulate ice or even release it from their body. A ice-based Yōkai can be easily defeated by a fire-based Yōkai or one with stronger ice than their own.

Poison: Yōkai who specialize in poison-based Fear are tolerant of toxins. They can sometimes manipulate poison or even release it from their body. A poison-based yōkai can be easily defeated by one that is immune to poison or can cure it. A yōkai with stronger poison can even get the upper-hand.

Darkness: Yōkai who specialize in darkness-based Fear can see in the dark. They can sometimes manipulate darkness or even release it from their body. A darkness-based Yōkai can be easily defeated by one that produces light or one with stronger Fear than their own.

PHYSICAL

Yōkai who specialize in physical-based Fear rely on boosting their strength to overpower an opponent. A Yōkai with this Fear can be unstoppable if they are up against an opponent that is fearful of them.

WEAPON RELIANT

Weapon-reliant Fear users tend to channel their Fear exclusively into a weapon that they are adapt at using. The user can alter the shape, size and density when they want to. This Yōkai is rarely seen without their weapon in hand.

BELIEF RELIANT

Belief-reliant Fear users draw their power from how many people believe in them or through prayer. A Yōkai that draws power from the beliefs of others feed off of that to become stronger and usually feed off human Fear. A Yōkai that draws power from prayer gain strength from how many others pray to it. The less a human or other race believes in a belief-reliant Fear user the weaker they are.

GRUDGE RELIANT

Grudge-reliant Fear users draw their power from a grudge towards someone or a grudge that another individual has. A grudge Fear user can feed off any grudge that is around them to become stronger. This Fear users grows weak if they are deprived of a grudge another person holds or if they no longer hold a grudge.

OTHER

This category of Yōkai is hard to classify. It could be that the species is a mixture of other Yōkai or that it has abilities that just do not fall into any of the Fear Trees. Other Fear based Yōkai are a mystery and should be approached with caution.
